AJ Murphy Surveyors Ltd are a building consultancy providing independent and impartial advice to both commercial and residential owners, occupiers and property managers in London, South East and nationwide.

We are proud to offer all core building surveying services with particular expertise in, Contract Administration, Project Management, Principal Designer under CDM regs 2015, Building Pathology, Dilapidations and Party Wall matters.

Profile

AJ Murphy Surveyors were established in 2014 by Andy Murphy. Andy has been a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) for 15 years and is an Associate Member to The Association for Project Safety (AaPS).

Originally from Bacup in Lancashire, Andy studied in Leeds prior to moving to London in 1998 and lives in South London. During this time he has obtained a sound base of knowledge and experience through his work with smaller, medium and larger private practices in London contributing to a varied working career that has allowed him the opportunity to work across a diverse selection of clients, markets and portfolios during this time.

He is well versed in all aspects of the role of the Building Surveyor having worked in a mixture of commercial, residential, industrial and retail for much of his career. Recently setting up his own company to hone his skills and specialise in areas that are of particular personal interest, these mainly being Contract Administration, Building Pathology, Principal Designer under CDM regs 2015 and health and safety advice, and Party Wall matters.

We contacted Andy regarding a trespass dispute with our neighbours. We required an expert opinion on the nature and quality of a dormer extension that contravened the party wall line at the top of our property.

Andy produced us a very thorough report supported by photographic evidence that detailed the structure and quality of the build.  It captured all the elements we had major concerns with as well as highlighting problems with the build that could impact us ongoing. The report formed the basis for our discussions via our solicitor with the neighbours. He produced this very quickly and for a very reasonable cost.
