Andy Murphy
BSc (Hons) MRICS AaPS
Andy is a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) and an Associate Member of The Association for Project Safety (AaPS), and has over 30 years of experience in the industry, and this year AJMS celebrate their 10th anniversary as a trading company.
Andy originates from East Lancashire in the Northwest of England, but he has been in London for over 25 years, and lives and works out of South-East London. He still retains his dulcet northern accent, and it has proven to be a talking point and even an 'ice breaker' over the years in numerous working situations.
During this time, he has obtained a sound base of knowledge and experience through his work with smaller, medium and larger private practices in London contributing to a varied working career that has allowed him the opportunity to work across a diverse selection of clients, markets and portfolios during this time.
He is well versed in all aspects of the role of the Building Surveyor having worked in a mixture of commercial, residential, industrial and retail for much of his career.
Originally setting up AJMS LTD to hone his skills and to enable him to specialise in areas that are of particular personal interest to him, these mainly being Contract Administration, Building Pathology, Principal Designer under CDM regs 2015 and general health and safety advice, which he has maintained and developed over the years, as well as adding additional skills and diversifying into other market areas during that time.
Andy has developed and nurtured his client base during that time, here servicing and retained by some existing block and property management companies he has longstanding relationships with, as well as forming new alliances with a mix of new clients from developers, consultants, insurance companies and management companies alike.
During this time, Andy has further built a good working relationship with a pool of a building contractors, Structural Engineers, Architects, Mechanical and Electrical consultants and specialists, who he can call upon as necessary.
Away from the office, Andy enjoys family time walking, weekends away and exploring the South Coast.
He is an avid football fan, and follows Blackburn Rovers, going to several home and away games each season.
His football playing days are over due to injury, but still enjoys running, swimming and playing cricket.
He is a keen music lover who attends lots of gigs and festivals, as well as regularly adding to his extensive vinyl collection accrued over 35 years. More recently looking to learn to play the guitar, which proving a longer than anticipated work in progress.
