Case Study: Comprehensive Contract Administration and Principal Designer Role

We provided full Contract Administration and Principal Designer services under CDM Regs 2015 for improvement works to ‘Finlock’ style concrete gutters following failure and recurring water ingress issues. This post initial opening up works and feasibility and cost analysis of possible solutions/options.

  • Initial Site Visit: Conducted an initial site visit using a MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) to determine the cause of damage, observed the site conditions, and reported findings back to the client.

  • Specification Writing: Developed comprehensive specifications, including preliminaries, preambles, schedule of work, and drawings. Prepared pre-construction phase plans, issued them for competitive tender, and provided a tender report on costs and recommendations based on detailed analysis.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Facilitated continuous communication between residents, clients, and contractors/sub-contractors to ensure project cohesion.

  • Contract Administration: Managed the project as the Contract Administrator, overseeing the progress and quality of works through weekly inspections and monthly progress meetings. Effectively managed site processes and valuations.

  • CDM Regulations Compliance: Ensured adherence to CDM Regulations 2015, fulfilling the role of Principal Designer to uphold the highest standards of health and safety.
